Ok, time to talk about this show.. I have to assume that by quick watching the trailer I thought I t was a movie. I mean,  it never crossed my mind this kind of story to last for a serie.

I like Paul Rudd a lot, I like the movies where he have participated for a long now, he is.. charming. and in this show it was just like that. But the show is not good just because of Paul, it was good to me because of the story, the characters and the way the go back and forth in the time line.

We (Cristina and I) watched the first season in just one afternoon. Episodes are king of short and I really with they be longer, but maybe is asking too much because as it is pretty well.

The story have some loose ends so the second season is pretty reasonable, I don’t want to mention anything about the story so you can go and watch it, but is pretty good to leave it in just one season.

So, if you have Netflix (I bet you do), go and watch it.

En mi pobre opinión el problema es que Telmex o el “Sindicado de Telefonistas de la República Mexicana” mejor dicho, creen que Netflix se aprovecha de su infraestructura para poder ofrecer su servicio, pero veamos dos cosas:

En primera, Netflix es un proveedor de servicios, no es un proveedor de internet, no vende discos o renta películas físicas, todo es digital y en la renta de su servicio en ninguna cláusula dice que ellos se harán cargo de proveer el internet al cliente, eso siempre queda de lado del cliente. read more

Patadas de ahogado

La televisión mexicana está pasando por una etapa que nunca pensó que llegaría, no fue otra televisora la que vino a destronar a Televisa, no fue siquiera la que más cerca le seguía el paso y que tanto tiempo ha estado ahí en la batalla, fueron los servicios de Streaming en Internet, más precisamente Netflix y YouTube.
Ahora que ven cómo se les escapa la audiencia (y el negocio) de las manos empiezan a pedir que por favor se regulen estos servicios para que (como bien lo dicen) no sustituyan a la TV tradicional.

No sé que me parece más ridículo, el intento de salvar a la TV tradicional o pensar que la población acostumbrada a internet (y que cada vez es mayor) quiere que la TV tradicional sea salvada, por no decir necesaria.

Las personas ya saben de los beneficios de servicios de streaming por internet y no creo que quieran dejarla, por ejemplo, ver tu serie favorita a la hora que gustas sin comerciales, con pausas en el momento que gustes, las repeticiones que gustes y sobre todo con calidad de contenido.  No importa que se tenga que pagar, digo, en SKY se paga más y de cualquier forma uno termina viendo comerciales.

No tienes para pagar? No hay problema, hay bastante contenido de forma legal en los muy variados canales de otros proveedores como Crackle o el más popular YouTube.

YouTube es punto de encuentro tiro de medio mundo, uno ya tiene sus “Youtubers” favoritos y espera la publicación del nuevo video. Nos chutamosnla publicidad pero tampoco es mucha, no  es abusiva, y podemos volver a ver el video (o fracción de el) las veces que queramos.

Cuál sería entonces el propósito de salvar (para nosotros, la audiencia) el método tradicional de TV?. Ninguno.

El contenido televisivo de puede aplicar en servicios de Streaming e incluso pueden llegar a generar más dinero, ejemplo de ello es que muchos productores le tiran a producir para YouTube porque el sistema meritocrático en YouTube les permite crecer si su contenido es bueno, en la TV tradicional no.

Que es lo que se tendría que regular?. Qué hay que se tiene que regular? Tendrían acaso los YouTubers que registrarse ante Hacienda como YouTubers? O se impediría en México la entrada de servicios de Streaming como se le ha tratado de impedir a Uber?. No entiendo que habría que regular si el público ahora sí estaría en plena libertad de elegir a quien pagarle por el contenido: Netflix no tiene los Simpson, bien, contrata Fox, o al revés.

Entonces, de lo que se trata aquí es de salvar a una empresa, se nota que son patadas de ahogado.

Hey, as pensado en comprar un [amazon ASIN=B017RTM19O&text=ROKU]?. Con Netflix, Youtube y muchas otras apps que te permitirán convertir tu pantalla en una SmartTV.

Porqué en lugar de pensar que estos servicios sustituirían la TV se debe empezar a pensar en integrar ambos servicios.

Stranger Things

This weekend Cristina and I watched the first season of “Stranger Things” a new original from Netflix. I’ll try to avoid any spoiler so  this post might be a little short, still I think it deserves a recommendation from my part.

So, where should I start?. The story, again, no spoiler. The story is great, so far the eight chapters (around 1 hour each one) had us trying to figure what is coming in the next chapter. Is definitively not boring and in my opinion is quite well placed, a small town in what I believe is around the 80’s. Being an “80’s” drama, all the town must look like an 80’s town, so cars, TVs, radio and other stuff is pretty much accurate although there are some mistakes.

Next the actors, kids and the characters are good, Winona Ryder definitively made a good paper as a desperate mom trying to find her kid. The chief is also a great character and is well performed by David Harbour, the kids do it great too, I think Dustin Henderson is my favorite, and although they are kinda needed, I don’t really like the teenagers performance. They were like just filling the hole.

I like the idea of having a season two, but I don’t know if it will work the same, I mean, it can’t be just more of the same, it has to change and I’m not sure if those will be good enough.
