Cristina and I went last Saturday to the movies, we watched Shrek forever after nice movie if you liked the other three but boring at the end. Yes, it is more about the same just like The Simpsons it will make you laugh but there is nothing new. If you can.. watch another movie. I warned you.

On the other side, if you are in the movies just to watch a movie, and enjoy the company of a beautiful girl (just like my wife) then, go ahead!!

I think the reason why I haven't blogged anything is because I just don't have enough time . Way too much work and the spare time I prefer to use it with Cristina and my lovely daughter Sofia.

First, the work with ICTC is getting a bit hard, we have to release the Invoice system right now, we took our time, it is getting great but, we are taking too much time most cutting the hard corners and creating a great user experience. I have to tank to Manuel, my beta tester, he is great doing his job. I'd like to talk more about this invoice system, but until it gets released I can't say anymore. I went to Salamanca to work on it, and, as usual I met with xbitcarry.

My grandmother got sick, she is quite old, and the health problems that comes with the age are showing on her. She has a heart desease and diabetes. Fortunately she is under control with medicine.

I'd like to work on night, to me it's the best time to work, nobody bothers you, no heat, no sound, no tv, no radio and of course, the broadband is all yours!!. If I had to work with people in the other side of the world it will be great to me :-).

I bought a couple of books, one if for python testing, the other is about django. Both great books, but Python Testing starts with doctest, which for me, is old, I prefer unittest. Django.. I think I can do several stuff for the family business using django, some web pages and desktop applications :-).

Which took me to the family business. I'm not going to talk too much, but the fact that I'm working on some software, I'm involving to my brother, he is a computer systems engineer like me and also like to do some programs.

 

Yesterday, my laptop harddrive got broken, some bad blocks shown and my virtual machine (for testing) just can't boot up. I try to copy the .vmdk files but was impossible. Using bad blocks and reiserfsck didn't help. At the end I used the seagate's check tool (the one that boots freedos), fix the bad blocks (took more or less 2 hours while badblocks took 8:30 hours!) and then use

 

 

to rebuild the partition. My files are there, but some other files that I deleted quite long time ago are back and some files where overwrited by and old version. My virtual machines got corrupted and some system files where missing. I will replace that hard drive this week, I can't trust on any hard drive with bad blocks.

Cristina and Me again, this was yesterday, we took the afternoon for us and went to the movies to watch Clash of the Titans (I don't really recommend it).
We have a lot of pictures, but almost no one together, I think that's my karma, take a lot of pictures, but I'm not in most of them.

This is one of the first pictures of us together, it was on August 30 2004. Cristina and I just started our relationship, I went to Villahermosa, Tabasco to visit her.

I was talking the past week that my keyboard is dead.

I ask for a replacement and it arrives today!. Yup!. nothing new about this keyboard, the same layout, the same size.. just that this is matte, and suddenly this keyboard will show small shining spots where I hit the keys, something that I don't really like.

Anyway, this keyboard let me work again, and I'm happy for that.

On other news... Naa. This Monday and Tuesday I was in Salamanca working, and it was nice to see my workmates again :-). ICTC bought new computers with CoolerMaster case, Intel Core i5 and 24 inch. monitors... damn, what a great time to leave the office don't you think?. I hope I can buy one of those screens soon.

I met xbitcarry, and we talk about projects, life and some other less interesting stuff, we found an open wireless network on the main park in Salamanca, it was good to see him again, I wish I had more time to visit many other friends that we (cristina and I) leave in salamanca.

Yesterday, when I came to work, I found that my computer didn't boot up and started to make a beep several times, actually it was a never ending beep. I tough that it was my computer hard drive, but after disconnect it, the beep didn't stop.
I found that it was like a key being pressed, but nothing was pressing any key, so,after hitting every key just to make sure, I boot the computer, and it did start, but something wasn't working fine.
I discovered that the Shift button was not working, and the "home" key was always pressed, I removed the keyboard and clean the connection, but it wasn't working.
I fought yesterday, trying to make it work, but at the end of the day it wasn't. The fix... disconnect the laptop keyboard,work with an external keyboard, ask for a new one, I hope it comes soon, because working with an external keyboard is not good.

This is my new "home office", very similar to the old one I had when I start working for ICT Consulting.
This time the linksys is not here and the mango became a wireless mouse, Cucusa became into Volvagia, I also have a hammer, just in case everything stop working or I get really really pissed.

Yeap, my fingers can feel the cold too. The last days have been a very cold days here in my town. The problem is that my fingers get frozen and I then I can't write anything.
I cut my gloves, only the tip to allow my fingers tip to touch the keyboard.

This is more or less the number of applications open in every day work. Many people say that using window managers like ion3 or awesome improves productivity... I'm fine with compiz maybe it's aimed to eye candy, but some plugins help a lot.

Time to post again, and again I have almost nothing interesting to say, but I don't care, I will not dig in my memories to entertain you, Just want to say what I have done in the past days.
In the last week I have been teaching some python to a workmate, and I want to teach this fabulous language to another workmate. I'm also teaching some PyGTK stuff, I really want my coworkers to know this tools, because then I will be a lot more free.
Cristina want us to put the christmas tree, I want that too, but would be better if we can put it on my parents house. We will try to get there by December 24.
We watch the National Geographic Documental "En el vientre materno" (sorry, don't know the english name). It's amazing how a couple of cells can become in something so beautiful like a child, we wanna see our baby now, well, wee see him/her last Thursday when we get to the gynecologist and see the baby, we see his legs, his arms, but the most incredible was his hearts and the way it beats!. We are so excited about the baby, we wanna have it now.

Today I found that my battery seems to be broken.. So, I try to completely discharge it just to recharge it and see if something was wrong with the gnome power manager or if in fact my batter is broken.

I finally found the metacity theme I'd like, is a variation made by me of The Beck Theme.

1:47 in the morning. Im still giving some love to christine, that personal proyect that I used to code frequently. Now, it takes some days before I can toch it.
I'm working on the sqlite3 storage layer, This should help me with a more unified data between multiple "sources" that should be renamed as playlists. This will be usefull for many other features, I'm thinkin in some kind of browser.
Anyway, I'm still in the process. I'd like to share the code I have, but SourceForge.net's SVN service is bothering me with a 403 (Forbidden) error that don't let me commit my changes. Now I'm seriously change the project host. What do you recommend?

I found this booting Ubuntu Hardy in my laptop. The progress bar was just "pulsing" but didn't change to a fraction. Well, This is why. This didn't happend before and I don't know how to reproduce this, so, I can't report it has a bug.

I had worked on christine weeks ago, this week I had no time to give it some love. I have been using this "development" version (I think every version of christine is a development version) for a while.
Christine is faster at the load time, starting in just 4 seconds with at least 1500 items in the list, and the search and sort is quite fast too. But working with something like 6889 items in another 'source' I had make it a bit slow.
I think this is because christine use 3 models in the main list. Yes, three models. One is the main model, the one that holds all the library data. then the filter model and then the sort model. I'll try to make a model that implements in some way the filter and sort to reduce the work.
I notice that when you use a filter or even worse a filter and sort model ever time you select or move your cursor, or do anything with a row this process has to be done for every model you have. I mean, in christine you have to do it three times because of the three models. I think this sucks.
Well, I hope to have the time to write a bit on christine in this week.

Cristina and I went yesterday to the museum, there are two exhibitions, the first is about the old mexico, that mexico where everybody uses hat. Is quite good and now we know that the security system actually works, cristina wasn't even touched the picture frame and the alarm sounds. Obviusly she didn;t try to steal the picture, just want to poing something.
Then we wen to the next room, there where pictures from Isabel Mu??±oz. Very interesting pictures, we like them a lot. all of them in black and white. If you are next to Salamanca, or gonna pass through, or you live here, you should visit the museum. After that we went to the park.
Then, cristina and I went to the market. She was looking for a blouse for one of her skirts, and took a couple of pictures wearing some hats. We eat some salads at the square, and then went to the park again, some kind of event was there for the church.

It is quite usefull, but, where can I configure the key bindings for the gnome open location dialog?? I mean, It nice if I click on the Desktop and press +l then it appears, but it's not the same if I am on any other application.
You can configure the key shortcuts to show the main menu, or to show the run dialog, you can even configure the shortcut to show your home, but, what about this?.
If you know how to do it (on GNOME), please, let me know.

• Cable: bien, para empezar ni siquiera tengo TV. Como quiera, no importa, lo que me interesa es la conexion. Ok, la mayor parte del tiempo estoy fuera de la casa por lo que no puedo esperar al CableGuy para que me haga la instalacion. Ademas, varias personas me han dicho que el servicio de internet por cable aqui en salamanca esta muy malo. Asi que no es opcion.
• Prodigy Infinitum: La neta, para lo que yo uso Internet me parece bastante bien (salvo por el costo), no soy muy de descargar los millones de canciones al dia, y generalmente ocupo internet para hacer una que otra tarea, leer noticias y descargar pedazos de software que ocupo. El problema con Infinitum es que tengo que contratar una linea telefonica, y luego el internet, mismo caso que con el Cable, no tengo tiempo y no quiero contratar una linea telefonica!.
• BAM: Entrega, se supone que en el momento, pero me tardaron un par de dias porque tenian problemas con el inventario. Ventaja: Conexion donde quiera que tenga recepcion de Celular (no estoy amarrado a la casa). Velocidad maxima de 3.1Mbps, promedio entre 80 y 800Kbps, upload entre 80 y 500. Bien, no tuve que esperar mucho, y no fueron a mi casa a instalar nada.

• Los que organizaron el desmadre parece que fue un tipo que tiene una escuela de computaci???????n.
• La banda de la escuela secundaria tecnica estaba bien perdida, toda desorganizada
• No fueron militares los que escoltaron a la bandera, fueron policias estatales.
