• Processor:
  Almost no configuration, just compile your own kernel with AMD Athlon64/Opteron (K8) family selected. To get cpu frequency scale you must compile the  powernow_k8 module (or include it into the kernel)
• Audio:
  Almost no configuration, just compile your kernel with snd_atiixp, snd_ac97_codec and snd_ac97_bus modules.
• Graphics:
  The ATI Radeon Xpress 200M will work fine with vesa, but no you will haven't accelerated graphics and a poor 16 bits colors. Must use the propietary ati driver from ati. Download the Motherboards with ATI driver the Notebooks driver seems to work but not as the Moterboard driver.
  • First download the  ATI Driver Installer is arround 25Mb and is a ".run" installer. Then download the source code for the Xorg or Xfree server, wich is an RPM but you can easyly install it converting it to tgz with "rpm2tgz" slackware tool.
  • Use rpm2tgz to convert the rpm, then install it. Move to /lib/modules/fglrx/buil_mod/ then run "sh make.sh" (as root), this will compile the module for your kernel.
  • Move to the parent directory "/lib/modules/fglrx/" and run "sh make_install.sh", this will install the compiled module. This thing will try the module by inserting it into the kernel, if something goes wrong check that you haven't another fglrx module in the kernel or maybe the module compile fails some where.
    
  • Now, execute the ati installer (the .run file). If everything is fine then you are almos ready to use your ATI with 3D accelerared Graphics.
    
  Now you have to configure your xorg xfree. Basicly in the driver just put fglrx and you are done. but if you want to have more stuff check my xorg config file.
  At this time you are ready to use full 24 bits colors but probably no accelerated graphics, if you don't believe me check with glxgears or fgl_glxgears. ATI Xpress200M uses shared memory, this imply that the use of a special device located in /dev/shm, you have to mount it in order to use extended memory (all those 32,64 or 128 mb) and use your card 3D capabilities. You should have something like this in your /etc/fstab:
  
  tmpfs                   /dev/shm                tmpfs           defaults 0 0
  
  if you don't have that device check your kernel to suppor POSIX shared memory device. Be sure that agpgart and ati_agp are loaded as modules in your kernel.
  
• Hard Drive:
  This is one of the frustrating tihings about this computer, is so newer that your HardDrive need to use the 2.6.x kernel, I mean, installing Slackware Linux takes almost 1 Hour, and just because no UltraDMA where activated (and will not be activated in 2.4 kernels). When I was using the default 2.4 kernel I just can't make the HD work with DMA nor UDMA, hdparm didn't help.
  But if you use the 2.6 kernel you can use the atixp module to enable it :-D, and then it will work ultra fine.
• Audio:
  The Audio in this computer is located in the modem, just load snd_atiixp, snd_ac97_codec and snd_ac97_bus to make it work.
• USB:
  Just be sure to have the proper usb core modules loaded.
• Wireless:
  Nobody can tell me that I didn't try. The Linux kernel includes support for the Broadcom wireless cards in the module bcm43xx but it is in a earlier stage, in a very experimental stage (that says in the kernel configuration), even with that I give it a try, but just didn't work, then I try to use ndiswraper to make it work.
  
• Obviosly you have to get the latest version of ndiswrapper (I used 1.19) and install it, follow the instructions, ok, more easy: just run make unistall, make and make install.
  
• Get the Broadcom Windows driver, put it whenever you want and uncompress it with "unzip -e"
  
• Now use ndiswrapper to get the info, go where you unpack the window installer and use "ndiswrapper bcmwl5.inf", this will create a folder in /etc/ndiswrapper with the info the get your module running.
• Now you can modprobe ndiswrapper to get your broadcom wireless card working as if it where running on windows, and yes, the wireless button will turn on!!.
• Configure it with iwconfig or the gnome network-admin or with your favorite tool. With iwconfig should be iwconfig wlan0 essid MyNetwork key XXXXXX or something like that.
  
• Modem:
  The modem is a very very easy stuff. just download the hsfm package from linuxant and then installit, is a .run file and the installation is done in a web browser. So there is nothing to fear. When it is configured, then you can use your favorite ppp application, I use kppp because it's very very easy and has no more dependencies than kdebase and qt.
• Touchscreen:
  Download the synaptics package from linuxpackages.net, install it and change in your xorg configuration the driver to synaptics. More xorg options are listed in my xorg.conf file, check it. Be sure to have evdev module loaded, if not the xorg will say that there is no core pointer.
• Keyboard, configure it with xorg to use the model presario (Option "XkbModel" "presario") and your current layout. You can configure the sound buttons in you Desktop Environment, I use Gnome and it rules!!.
